To support users and help them overcome initial uncertainties, a user interface that provides relevant information at a glance is crucial. Tecan Group AG commissioned us to develop a user-friendly UI solution for its latest laboratory automation platform Veya™ to further enhance the intuitiveness and transparency of the automation experience.

Laboratory automation has never been more accessible

Thanks to the sophisticated design of Veya™ and OneView™, laboratories can organise their workflows more efficiently and make data-driven decisions. The system offers seamless integration into existing processes and significantly reduces the error rate. This makes automation not only more accessible, but also more efficient. Regulatory standards, including Europe's CE-IVD and IVDR requirements, are met.

Seamless integration

During integration, it was important that the Veya™ user interface fits seamlessly into the existing processes of Tecan's machine ecosystem and that status information can be viewed from a great distance. As a result, new employees find their way around more quickly and the familiarisation period is significantly reduced.

Dynamic machine visualisation - the living soul of the machine

At the centre of the user interface is a pulsating element - the visual soul of the machine. This dynamic core element changes its shape, movement and colour to intuitively reflect the current state of the machine.

Intuitive design meets powerful automation

The central dashboard provides a clear overview of all relevant process information. Status, maintenance dates and environmental conditions are automatically updated and displayed, helping to improve efficiency and control.

Visual workflows

Thanks to a well-designed user interface, users can visually track workflows and view the status of machines in real time. Intuitive workflows, intelligent analyses and a modular design increase productivity and minimise errors.

Introspect integration

Veya™'s OneView™ interface is seamlessly connected to Tecan Introspect, a digital platform for analysing equipment utilisation and performance. Introspect provides real-time KPIs and enables data-driven decisions to optimise laboratory processes. Protected by design patent

The uniqueness of OneView™ is evident not only in the user experience, but also in the innovative nature of its design. To protect this innovation in the longterm, Tecan has decided to register OneView™ as an “animated product design” (design patent). This decision emphasizes the importance of the dynamic, animated interface as part of the overall product and impressively highlights the technological excellence of Veya™.

OneView highlights the innovative power of the Veya instrument. Centigrade has developed an animated design that captures the movements of the robot arm in the device and moves the windows dynamically. Product presentations show that OneView is a real differentiator. The collaboration between Tecan and Centigrade has not only produced a graphical representation of information, but has also resulted in genuine innovation. Because OneView is unique, Tecan has decided to protect OneView as an ‘animated product design’ (design patent).
